Oh, Ian

I spend a large part of each day laughing because of Ian's antics and conversations. For example: this morning he got into bed with Mr. B and me (at 6 am, ew) and immediately snuggled up to Mr. B, saying, "Daddy!" and giving him kisses. Then I murmured, "I should go get in the shower," and Ian turns to me and says, "GO!" He starts pushing me and says, "Go wash! Wash hands! Go shower!" Well excuse me!! Laughing, I complied and he was content with his daddy.
Then later, he was having a cookie snack, and he had one bite left. I tried to reach for it to see if he'd let me have it, when he grabbed it and said, "No touch! My cookie!"
Still later, I attempted to read my scriptures. He came marching over, closed the book, and said firmly, "The end." So I opened the Ensign and he grabbed that and threw it. I guess we know who the real boss is around here.
And even though he has a lot of behaviors that drive me nuts, I could tell stories like these almost daily. Gotta keep me laughing to keep me sane I guess!

Christmas aftermath: cute kids

These two have really started to play together and get along better.
I love it. Helps make up for the times when they scream at each other and Ian bites Audrey.
Ian totally into the train set. (He did ask for Mash today, guess he can have simultaneous obsessions.)
Future scientist enjoying her new science kit. Today we learned that an acid (lemon juice) will make a penny shiny, while a base (water) will not.

Christmas morning 2010

We had a wonderful Christmas this year, lots of fun presents, good food, and relaxed time as a family.
Ian thought the whole thing was pretty amazing--this is his first cognizant Christmas. I love how magical kids make Christmas!
Audrey was delighted with Santa's offerings and couldn't be bothered with family gifts for awhile. Eventually she opened everything and loved it all. Super grateful and sweet.
The big hit for Ian: TRAINS! He is a man obsessed. Maybe he'll forget about Mash for awhile...
The big hit for Audrey: princess dolls. And they both love their new kitchen, especially as a storage unit for their trains and dolls.
Mr. B got spoiled by his wife and parents with board games and a video game. And I got even more spoiled, with fun things like jewelry and books, but best of all, new bowls and mugs that I have wanted for years! Mr. B sure knows how to make me happy. Very fun day, and we even got a decent snowfall--our first white Christmas. Magical.

Impromptu Tea Party

The kids and I were playing in their room a couple weeks ago, and I pulled out this inflatable table/chair set. Audrey was already dressed to the nines, so I decided to grab my tea set (from my childhood) and let them have a little tea party. Good choice Mom!! They loved it and were too cute.

Gingerbread House

I'm not sure why I get it into my head that gingerbread houses are a fun project. We had to wait an hour+ for the icing/glue to dry on the structure before we could decorate (guess I should have made the house the night before). Then Mommy does all the frosting because it's too frustrating for little hands, but at least they stick all the candy on. Then they want to instantly eat it (gross). I think I'll pass on this tradition next year...
