Big girl bed

About a week ago Audrey's toddler bed arrived. I was too impatient to wait for Mr. B to set it up on the weekend so I just did it myself. Oh the things you can do even when you're hugely pregnant!! Audrey was VERY excited about her big girl bed, but didn't fall asleep for her nap until 4:00 pm that day. I totally understood--it's a novelty! Naps since then have been okay, mostly a lot later than normal because she takes much longer to get to sleep. I took out the fun stuff and closed the door (she can't turn the doorknob yet), which helps, but this girl will play with socks. Oh well, at least she's been getting somewhat of a nap daily. One afternoon I found her asleep in the rocking chair, another time she was laid out in front of the door--I couldn't get it open. But mostly she sleeps in her bed. Nighttime, however, is fabulous. No changes in her behavior or routine. We check on her before we go to bed and she's in her bed sound asleep. I leave the door ajar so she can get out by herself in the morning, but she stays in bed until we answer her yells, just like the crib days. So I'd say the transition has been a success. Yay Audrey!

Inauguration day picnic

Audrey and I enjoyed an indoor picnic lunch while watching the Inauguration. I really liked the music and Obama's speech. I gained a renewed sense of patriotism and feel blessed to live in this country. I hope Obama leads our country in a good direction. I also loved Reverend Lowery's ending to his prayer: when brown can stick around, when yellow can be mellow, when red can get ahead, etc. That was pretty amusing; I'm guessing some might be offended, but whatever. Definitely a historic day for America!
Note the uneaten sandwich. The chips are gone though. That's what I get for offering them at the same time... And no, she did not watch the Inauguration this intently. A little dancing to the music, a little running around, and a little bit of asking for a different show. But she was content to let me watch it while she ate and played.

Kids can change you

I like my home to be in order. I don't think I'm obsessive, but I generally like things where they go and messes cleaned up sooner rather than later. However, Audrey put these stickers up on the living room wall almost two months ago and I still haven't taken them down. I just can't bear to. I think it's so cute how her mind must have been working as she placed them there. Even though they are "out of place," they don't bother me at all.

How lucky am I?

My friend Megan is so amazingly talented. And she surprised me with a wonderful baby gift--aren't these adorable? A beautiful soft blanket, an adorable outfit, and the CUTEST booties. I'm so excited to put my little boy in all this!! Click on Megan for her business website!Speaking of pregnancy, etc., here's an update: I'm 30 weeks along (due March 15), and the baby is VERY lively. He makes me gasp a lot because his kicks are so sharp and sudden and sometimes even painful. I don't mind, though. I also experienced hiccups for the first time the other night. Audrey never got them in utero, so it took me a minute to figure it out. It was neat! I'm feeling pretty good, just tired more easily. We haven't picked a name out yet--it's been hard, but I'm sure we'll figure it out eventually.

Family Night done right

We are trying to have more frequent Family Night now that Mr. B is home on Monday nights. This week we gave Audrey a little lesson from the handouts she brought home from church (how easy is that??) and then played Guitar Hero and ate M&Ms. Can't get much better than that, right? Although we did spend some time dancing and we each got turns to play, this is how Audrey spent most of the Guitar Hero time: Audrey has a rockin' daddy.
